Los Alamos

  • Bell’s: Los Alamos’ Michelin 1 Star restaurant is a casual and relaxing space serving up classic French flavors in this central valley town of farms, ranches, and vineyards. The reasons for the Michelin Star is easy to see in the food served at Bell’s where lunch and dinner are served from Thursday to Monday. The lunch menu, served from 1100 to 1500, is a tight selection of a la carte selections, ranging from a rich and decadent Chicken Liver Mousse (served with, on our visit, a sexy strawberry rhubarb compote and an abundance of crostini and cornichons) to the luscious Steak Tartar (choice of fries or a refreshing green salad of lettuce dressed simply with oil and salt) topped with a bright orange egg yolk. Their dinner menu, served between 1700 and 2030, consists of a 4 course prix fix (2 to 3 choices per course to choose from) focused on fresh seasonal ingredients sourced from local and European purveyors. Their Gateau Breton appears on both lunch and dinner service for good reason. Though the gateau at Bell’s does not have the fruit filling found in many of the gateaus you may have encountered, it is rich, buttery, subtly sweet and encased in a well baked and flaky crust. So good was the first slice i had that a second slice was ordered and delighted over! No dress code, reservations are strongly recommended.
